A delightful Georgian mahogany veneered, Chippendale style tea caddy with working key key. There is a brass carrying handle on top and a brass bats-wing escutcheon to the front. The brass hinged top opens to reveal three sections, with a green cotton velvet lined section at the back, for the caddy spoon, which matches the green velvet lined lid interior. The lock was missing and so a new lock and key have been fitted. It sits on four stepped feet.Sympathetically cleaned, re-waxed and polished, it is in overall excellent condition. A lovely antique!Measurements: 22.5 cm wide, 14 cm deep and 13 cm high.
George III Chippendale style Tea Caddy with Key, circa 1760
Cleaned and restored to a high standard. All you need to do is wipe over with a soft cloth from time to time. You can occasionally use a spray furniture polish that contains bees wax, which will maintain its satin sheen. Please don’t use a silicone spray as this could be detrimental to the waxed surface.
